Kingspan Insulation
Kinspan is one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of foam insulation boards. There are a multitude of Kingspan Insulation Boards used within the building industry – both new build and refurbishment .
They are used to provide improved levels of thermal insulation to the walls, floors and soffits within a building and constitute either extruded polystyrene, polyiscyanurate or phenolic insulation board. They generally all come in 8ft x 4ft (2400mm x 1200mm) sheets, although there are a couple of exceptions to the rule and a variety of thicknesses from 20mm to 200mm. As is to be expected with such a wide spectrum of products, they also range in cost from the cheaper polyisocyanurate insulation sheets to the most expensive fire retardant phenolic insulation board.
Kingspan manufacture 3 main ranges of insulation. The Kooltherm Range, The Therma Range and the Styrozone Range.
The Therma range is an extensive range of high performance, rigid urethane insulation boards for use in walls, floors, soffits and roofs. Some of the features of Kingspan Therma range include relatively low thermal conductivity (between 0.022 and 0.028 W/mK), the closed cell urethane building material is moisture resistant, unaffected by air movement unlike Mineral Fibre Insulation safe and easy to install without the need for masks due to the lack of fibre migration of irritating dust/material – again unlike Mineral and Glass Fibre Insulation, long term thermal performance over the lifetime of the building. The Therma range is also CFC/HCFC free with zero Ozone Depletion potential – an all important factor in todays environment.
The Styrozone Range is an extensive range of high performance rigid, extruded polystyrene insulation boards for use in walls, floors, roofs and soffits. Some of the features of the Kingspan Styrozone range include good thermal insulation characteristics, high compressive strength, ideal for specialist inverted roofing and heavy duty flooring applications, resistance to moisture ingress, unaffected by air movement unlike mineral fibre insulation, safe and easy to install without the need for masks due to the lack of fibre migration of irritating dust/material – again unlike Mineral and Glass Fibre Insulation, long term thermal performance over the lifetime of the building. The Styrozone range is also CFC/HCFC free with zero Ozone Depletion potential – an all important factor in todays environment.
