Local authorities 20m scheme

A new £20 million Green Deal Communities scheme to help local authorities drive street-by-street delivery of the Green Deal has been announced.

Under new proposals from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), local authorities in England will be able to bid for funding from a £20 million pot to help households benefit from the Green Deal on a street-by-street or area basis.

Lack of suppliers a problem, could you help?

The Green Deal is held back by lack of suitably equipped suppliers, not low demand, according to energy secretary Ed Davey. 

Speaking to Building Magazine, Davey said there were not enough installers offering solid wall insulation - a target area of the energy efficiency scheme.

Nothing had been installed under the scheme at the last count. However, Davey insisted the number of assessments carried out - over 44,000 - was "probably more than most people expected".
