Geotextile Membrane

Geotextile Membrane

Geotextile membrane are large sheets of fabric that are often used in external applications ranging from drainage, soakaways and ground engineering. There are two main types of geotextile fabric:

  1. Woven geotextile
  2. Non-woven geotextile

Woven geotextile is made by weaving individual threads or tapes of material to combine and form a giant sheet. One of the advantages of woven geotextile membrane is that it holds greater strength, while remaining slightly stiffer overall and slightly cheaper than its non-woven alternative.

Non-woven geotextile is made by heat-bonding synthetic fibres or via needle punching to make the sheet continuous. While non-woven geotextile membrane might not be as strong as woven, these possess excellent filtration capabilities, hence why these are frequently used in drainage applications. Although this is only one of the many applications of geotextiles in civil engineering.

For commercial applications where Terram geotextile could be useful, we stock plenty of the product. It’s worth noting that we offer discounts on large quantity orders, while also stocking enough for those of you working on smaller, domestic projects.
