Vapour Barrier Membrane

Vapour Barrier Membrane

Vapour barriers are sheets made from plastic or foil, used as a method of waterproofing a building and preventing the influx of interstitial condensation. Common areas which succumb to this type of condensation include walls, roofs, floors and the structural foundations.

A vapour barrier membrane offers great energy efficiency and insulation, while also acting as a robust type of damp-proof membrane. These membranes are important building components, preventing water vapour from entering areas where it can condense, can often lead to the growth of mould, mildew and rotting.

Common types of vapour control:

  • Polyethylene sheeting
  • Visqueen vapour barrier
  • Roofing membrane
  • Foil foam board
  • Foil backed plasterboard

Please be advised we also stock products such as breather membrane and damp-proof course (DPC) which might be more suitable type of damp-proofing. Please refer to the respective product pages to find out more, or alternatively, please get in touch with us to see how we can help you protect your building from damage.
