Delivery Options

Our deliveries are designed to work for you, not against you. Flexible scheduling and reliable service mean your materials arrive when and where you need them, so you can focus on what matters most—getting the job done right.

We have a number of delivery options available depending on where you are in the country, the products you order and the suppliers used.​

Please note that we only ship to the UK mainland, and deliveries cannot be made to non-mainland locations such as the Isle of Man, Jersey, or Guernsey.

Standard UK Delivery (Mainland Only)

We will always aim to deliver within the lead time set for each individual product, but please note that the complexity of your order may sometimes require extra arrangements.

Standard delivery means no special arrangements are required for your order. Deliveries are made to the kerbside only — our drivers will not carry materials inside your property or up to your door in circumstances such as flats or apartments.

  • Orders are delivered Monday to Friday, between 7am and 5pm.

  • We aim to deliver your order on the date shown in your delivery note, provided that:

    • The delivery address is located within the UK mainland delivery area, and

    • Payment has been cleared by 12pm on the previous working day.

Examples:

  • If you place your order before 12pm on Monday, you should expect delivery by Wednesday or Thursday.

  • If you place your order after 12pm on Monday, your order should arrive by Thursday or Friday.

Weekend delivery is not guaranteed, but may be arranged by prior agreement — contact our Sales Team to discuss this.

Standard Delivery Charges

Our standard delivery charges are:

  • Basket value £0 - £300 ex VAT - Delivery charge: £20 incl VAT​
  • Basket value over £300 ex VAT- Delivery charge: FREE

Our standard delivery charges are:

  • Basket value £0 - £150 ex VAT --- Delivery charge: £45 incl VAT
  • Basket value £150 - £350 ex VAT--- Delivery charge: £35 incl VAT
  • Basket value £350 - £500 ex VAT--- Delivery charge: £25 incl VAT
  • Basket value over £500 ex VAT --- Delivery charge: £0

Special Delivery Requirements

We understand that every project has different needs, so in some cases we can arrange special delivery services. These may include:

  • Next-day deliveries

  • Specific delivery dates

  • Split deliveries for larger orders

Our dedicated Trade Account Managers work closely with trusted courier partners and have extensive experience in arranging tailored delivery services to ensure your goods arrive on-site exactly when and where you need them.

Extended Delivery Lead Times

Most of our products are standard stocked products and require no customisation, allowing for straightforward delivery. However, certain items — such as Truline commercial doors and other made-to-order products — may require longer lead times due to their bespoke nature.

We aim to clearly label these products within our online catalogue, but as their production is outside of our direct control, lead times may change and affect delivery arrangements.

Additionally, due to the range of different suppliers and locations involved in fulfilling some orders, certain products may experience extended lead times beyond our control. Our team will always do their best to keep you informed and updated on the status of these items so you can plan your project effectively.

Supplier Delivery Charges

Some products are subject to fixed delivery charges due to supplier arrangements. These charges apply per order, regardless of order value:

  • Truline Commercial Doors – £225 inc VAT
  • Siderise – £192 inc VAT
  • Wedi – £48 inc VAT
  • Hi-Clad – £60 inc VAT
  • Firefly – £78 inc VAT
  • CMS Danskin Acoustics – £96 inc VAT
  • Carrino Access Flooring – £60 inc VAT
  • Karma – £192 inc VAT
  • Tate – £96 inc VAT
  • Permaflor – £96 inc VAT
  • SFS Products – A manufacturer set charge of £150 inc VAT applies to orders under £1500. Orders over £1500 are delivered free of charge. This applies only to baskets consisting exclusively of SFS Products. Mixed baskets may be subject to other rates.

These delivery costs are always applicable and will be added to your order at checkout.

Next Day Delivery

This is generally only available for some of our products. Please check the product page for its delivery options. Be sure to complete your order by 10:30am the previous morning for Next Day Delivery, if not your order may be delayed by an extra day.

For example, if you place an order before 10:30am on Monday and choose Next Day Delivery at checkout, you should expect to receive it by Tuesday. If your order is placed after 10:30am on Monday with Next Day Delivery, expect to receive it by Wednesday. 

If you require Next Day Delivery for any products from our website, please contact our sales team. 

Any orders placed on a Friday after 3pm during a weekend or bank holiday, will be processed the next working day.

Standard UK (Mainland) Delivery (2 - 3 working days)

Your order will be delivered Monday to Friday, between 7am and 5pm. We will aim to deliver your tools and building materials on the day you mentioned in your delivery note. As long as the address is in the UK mainland delivery area and payment is cleared by 12pm the day before.

For example, if you place your order before 12pm on Monday, you should expect to receive it by Wednesday or Thursday. If your order was placed after 12pm on Monday, your order will arrive by Thursday or Friday. We cannot guarantee weekend delivery, but we may be able to arrange for this if discussed in advance. Give our sales team a call to check whether this can be organised. 

Exclusions

We cannot guarantee a specified delivery timeframe for standard UK Mainland deliveries to certain areas and postcodes.

Please note that we only ship to the UK mainland, and deliveries cannot be made to non-mainland locations such as the Isle of Man, Jersey, or Guernsey.

If your online order has to be delivered to one of the areas above, you will receive a call from our sales team to discuss the delivery options available. This may involve extra charges. We have experience delivering to remote or difficult-to-reach locations around the UK. See our customer reviews

If you are placing an order with a delivery address in Northern Ireland, you will not be able to choose Standard UK Delivery at checkout. In this case, do not hesitate to get in touch with our sales team to find out what special arrangements can be made.

Depot Collections

We do not offer material collections as standard. However, in some cases, certain orders may be suitable for collection from a local depot. This is arranged strictly on a case-by-case basis and must be agreed with our sales team prior to ordering.

If you are interested in collection, please contact our Sales Team, who will advise whether this option is available for your order and provide further details if applicable.

Access for deliveries

We ask all our drivers to call 30 minutes prior to delivery. However, this is not always possible due to the nature of the goods and delivery options available. If this is going to be a problem, please contact our sales team on 01628 674 910.

Because of the size and volume of the materials we sell, some of our deliveries may not turn up in the same vehicle. If this is an issue, please let us know and we will try to make alternative arrangements. Deliveries are made at the nearest curbside. 

To keep our delivery process as smooth as possible, it is important for someone to be available at the delivery address and to help with any bulky materials such as plasterboard. We would need a contact number for the person receiving the delivery. This is in case we need any further assistance and somebody would also need to sign for the delivery. 

If no one is available to receive the delivery, you will need to let us know by sending an email to sales@buildingmaterials.co.uk agreeing that you are happy for the products to be left in a safe place at your own risk.

Manufacturer or Product-Specific Deliveries

For certain manufacturers or specific product types sold on our website, orders may be subject to their own delivery restrictions and rules outlined below.

Bricks & Blocks Delivery Requirements

  1. Orders are delivered on pallets via our standard kerbside delivery service.
  2. Kerbside means delivery to the nearest access road to your site not directly onto your property.
  3. The delivery location must have a hard, flat surface for safe unloading.
  4. The tail lift must sit flush with the ground and the pallet truck must be able to move freely.
  5. We cannot: Lift pallets over walls or fences or Carry goods to the rear of a property
  6. For options like Hi-abcrane, or handball offload, please contact us before placing your order. Additional charges may apply.
  7. If delivery is refused due to: Incorrect vehicle selection or undisclosed access issues a failed delivery charge may apply.
  8. We will always try to contact you first to find a better solution.

VELUX®

Delivery to Dealer Partner Premises (Free of Charge)

  • All orders delivered directly to the dealer partner’s registered premises (as named on their account) are free of charge.

Direct-to-Site Deliveries

  • Available on request at a standard charge of £40 / €45 per order.
  • The dealer partner is responsible for:
    • Ensuring safe site access.
    • Providing facilities for unloading.
    • Having someone on site to sign for the delivery.
  • The delivery signature will be accepted as valid proof of delivery in the correct condition.
  • If these requirements are not met, the service may be withdrawn and/or a re-delivery charge applied.

Reporting Damage

  • Any damage noticed on delivery must be:
    • Clearly marked on the delivery driver’s paperwork before signing.
    • Reported to VELUX within 7 working days of the delivery date.

Reporting Faults

  • Faults not visible upon initial inspection must be reported to VELUX within 1 month of the delivery date.

Discontinued Products

Discontinued products will be marked as ‘Discontinued’ on our website. Some discontinued products may still be available to purchase through certain suppliers who still hold legacy stock. If a product is no longer available, our sales team will be happy to help you find a suitable alternative.

Made-to-Order Products

Products marked as ‘Made To Order’ on our website are bespoke items that are manufactured specifically to your requirements. Examples include partitioning walls, office doors, and other custom-built products.

Due to the nature of these bespoke products, lead times—including production and delivery—are typically longer than standard stock items. We recommend contacting our sales team for detailed information on current lead times and delivery schedules.

Please be aware that made-to-order products are non-returnable and non-refundable, as they are produced to meet individual specifications and cannot be restocked by our suppliers.

Price On Application (POA) Products

Products marked as ‘POA' may have longer lead times or special delivery requirements, depending on the specific product and supplier.

These cases are assessed individually to ensure accurate pricing, availability, and delivery options. For more details, please contact our sales team, who will be happy to assist you.

Limited Availability Products

Products marked as ‘Limited Availability’ on our website may have longer processing and delivery times due to restricted or fluctuating supply.

If you are unsure about the availability or lead time of a product with limited stock, our sales team is on hand to assist and provide the most up-to-date information.

Depot Collections

We offer quick and easy collections from a number of local depots close to you. We have collection points in all major UK towns and cities, stocking a wide range of products. Give our sales team a call before placing an order to find out where your nearest collection point is. Once the order has been placed, we will confirm by phone or email the full address of the collection point. Please be aware that not every single product will be available in every location.

Brand deliveries

For some brands we sell on our website, the order will be sent directly to the manufacturer who will use its own courier and specific delivery charges apply.

VELUX®

Free of charge delivery is provided for all orders delivered to our dealer partner's premises as named on their account.

Direct to site deliveries

Direct to site deliveries are available and are subject to a standard charge of £40/€45 per order. It is the dealer partner's responsibility to ensure there is site access, ability to unload and someone on site to sign for the delivery. The signature is accepted by us as valid proof of delivery in the right condition. Failure to meet the criteria may result in this service being withdrawn and/or re-delivery charge being passed on.

Damage

Goods that are damaged in transit must be marked on the delivery driver's paperwork prior to signing for the goods delivered, and reported to VELUX within seven (7) working days of the actual delivery date.

Faults that were not evident during an inspection upon receipt of goods must be reported to VELUX within one (1) month of the delivery date.

We can organise another delivery for you. If the second delivery fails as well, charges will apply for any subsequent delivery attempts. These will be dependent on the delivery company. Please contact us if you have any questions or want to arrange another delivery.

If you place an order with us on a weekend or bank holiday, this will be processed the next working day (Monday to Friday). 

Yes. We reserve the right to reject an order. This may be due to a number of reasons including but not limited to product availability, delivery location or product quantity purchased. On occasions like this, we will provide a full refund.
