Sand & Ballast

Sand & Ballast

Ballast sand is a mixture of both sharp sand and stone, which is ideal for use with concrete to create an incredibly strong material. The more sand and water that are used, the greater the concrete’s workability.

MOT Type 1 is crushed to provide stability to road surfaces and pathways. The name refers to the stone size, composition and compressive strength. One MOT Type 1 bulk bag will typically cover an area of between 7-8 metres.

Sharp sand is commonly known as building sand, as these terms are often used interchangeably. This product has a gritty texture, making it ideal for construction when mixed with concrete. Common uses of sharp sand include mixing with garden soil, laying pavement and under block paving. We sell sharp sand bags in a wide range of sizes.

Plastering sand is much finer, which, as the name suggests, is ideal for plastering and creating renders. This can be used internally or externally, with its fine particles giving a very smooth finish to any plastering project.

We offer both trade packs and bulk packs of sand, and we offer discounts for orders of high quantities. Contact us today to see how we can help.
