Soundproof, Acoustic and Soundbloc Plasterboard

The higher the mass of soundproof plasterboard, the greater the noise reduction. It comes in thicknesses in either 12.5mm or 15mm. Acoustic alternatives to standard plasterboard have proven successful at reducing varying levels of noise, but it is particularly impactful if the plasterboard is reinforced with other materials like fibreglass. The combination of materials improve the board’s ability to absorb sound.

The British Gypsum Soundbloc plasterboard, much like the majority of all our soundproofing plasterboard sheets with a width of 12.5mm, can be used to insulate both walls and ceilings. It’s ideal if you want to minimise noise travelling between rooms or floors, block out noisy neighbours and vibrations. The acoustic plasterboard is the preferred choice to soundproof stud walls or ceiling beams, and can be used effectively in any DIY soundproofing project. All our Soundbloc boards are also impact resistant, and come in a variety of sizes, and all come with the tapered edge, so it’s important to remember they will need jointing and taping beforehand.

The soundproof plasterboards we supply comply fully with BS EN520 and are categorised as Types A, D.
