Thermal Pipe Insulation

Thermal Pipe Insulation

Pipe Insulation

Pipe insulation is essential to minimise heat loss from water pipes and reduce the risk of pipes freezing in winter. Pipe insulation can also be used to protect exposed pipework from burning people, ensuring proper safety in a place of work or business. Pipe insulation can be used in both commercial properties and residential ones and can be easily fitted either during the building process or as part of a refurbishment. We sell a range of quality branded pipe insulation products at Building Materials Nationwide, perfect for all of your thermal insulation needs.

As an entry-level product, we sell NMC Climaflex Polyethylene Pipe Insulation, which operates in a temperature range of -45°C to +105°C. This is what is commonly recognised as generic pipe insulation, but offers a good level of thermal performance. It can help to minimise heat loss through pipes, such as those used in central heating systems, which in turn will reduce wasted energy.

They can also be used to help protect pipes against frost, insulating them from freezing temperatures. An additional benefit offered is the dampening of structure-borne noise, giving some acoustic insulation. We also sell the NMC Insul-Tube pipe insulation, which is made from rubber and is designed for refrigeration and air conditioning applications, helping to avoid condensation developing on cold tubing, giving long term energy savings.

Another pipe insulation for condensation control is the AF Armaflex Class 0, which offers reliable insulation. It combines low thermal conductivity with high water vapour resistance, to prevent energy loss and condensation. It comes with antimicrobial protection and stellar fire performance, making it a great choice for commercial and industrial buildings. It can be applied to pipes with Armaflex adhesive, available through our website.

For more industrial settings we offer the Rockwool Rocklap H&V Pipe Sections, which are sections of pre-formed insulation with a foil facing and a self-adhesive lap. They offer an easy snap-fit to pipes, giving excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, suited for temperatures between 0°C and 700°C. The pre-slit pipe sections must be sealed along the joint with tape to fully insulate. Rocklap pipe insulation can be used in a wide variety of environments, like factories, plants, and other high heat structures.

All of these pipe insulations can be easily applied to pipes within a building, though of course if a pipe is located within a wall then it will be much easier to insulate the pipe during the initial building process rather than as a refurbishment. To insulate pipes in a wall during a refurbishment, perhaps as a solution to persistent pipe freezing, may require removing a section of the wall to access the pipes.

We offer a wide variety of pipe insulation products, suited to both commercial and domestic properties, and a range of budgets.
