Push it, push it real good

Things are about to get heated here at Building Materials, as of the 1st November 26 brave members of our team are taking part in the Cancer Research 100 Push-ups a day Challenge… yes that’s 100 every single day by every team member!

The 26 participants are spread up and down the UK with our remote workers getting fully involved. We will have regular updates, videos and check in’s keeping the team motivated and ensuring no one is left behind.  Be sure to follow us on our socials to stay up to date with the team progress.

During the average press-up, you are lifting 65% of your bodyweight, we have calculated that every day the team will be lifting 142,700 Kg or 142.7 tonnes. That’s the equivalent to 11 double decker buses, 155 pallets of Ibstock Bricks , 5708 bags of Cement and by the end of the challenge the team will have lifted a whooping 4281 tonnes or 7.1 million pints of beer!

There will definitely be some aches and pains along the way because typically muscle groups take 48 hours to recover. Doing 100 push-ups a day, the muscles are not getting enough time to recover, and the fatigue will kick in during weeks 3 and 4. Don’t worry all our guys have headsets so they’ll still be able to take those important orders.

The reason they decided to get evolved with this challenge is because unfortunately 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime*. The money they raise will fund important lifesaving research. The team are hoping to raise over £7000 so please dig deep.

Your support and encouragement will be really important so please click here to donate.
