Bifold Doors

The term bifold door can describe two different types of doors, with larger bi-folding doors commonly used as external patio doors in houses. Single bifold doors will fit within a standard frame, with a hinge down the vertical centre allowing them to fold together. This means that the door can close normally, but will open with a far smaller radius, making them the perfect choice to maximise usable floor space in smaller bathrooms.

Sliding Doors

Another stylish option to take advantage of limited space is sliding doors, which will be built with a rail on either side of the door, allowing the door to be slid open or closed. Sliding doors can be built in solid or glass designs. A drawback of sliding doors is their lack of privacy, as locks cannot usually be installed on this design.

Pocket Doors

Pocket doors are similar to sliding doors, except that the rail will be within the doorframe, sliding the bathroom door into a wall cavity. This will open up even more bathroom space, and can also be installed with a lock for privacy.

Locks

A range of different locks will be available for installation in a bathroom. In a domestic home, a traditional key lock with the key left within the inside door is normally acceptable, but this will not be appropriate in a commercial building. Thumbturn locks offer a practical and attractive solution, with a simple mechanism allowing the door to be easily locked and unlocked whenever needed.

Some commercial environments opt for door bolts, which will also give a clear indication of whether the door is locked but would be considered unsuitable within higher-end establishments. Other door types like sliding doors will have their own specific locks.

Handles
